Taking or Receiving?
Part 2
In fact, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would not come unless he went away. John 16:7 |
The word for take/receive is a command. (imperative tense) The command has taken place : hence the aorist tense. Jesus gave the command : hence the active tense. The action in the command had not taken place (aorist imperative is timeless) |
Receiving the Spirit is clearly the same as Baptism in the Spirit |
Receiving the Spirit is the same as the Holy Spirit Coming Upon. Acts 10:44-47 |
The Holy Spirit coming Upon is the Same as Baptism in the Spirit Acts. 11:15-17 |
Baptism in the Spirit is the same as Receiving the Spirit |
There is only one type of receiving the Spirit. and The disciples only received the spirit once. |
But they were filled many times |
Jesus told the disciples to 'take' the Holy Spirit with them in John 20:22 |
I am sending you. Take the Holy Spirit. Whoever you forgive is forgiven. |
