Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is violence in the home - or violence between family members

Most commonly it involves physical abuse of a partner or property

 

 

Violence can be:

a coping mechanism

a form of punishment

a way of controlling others

a way of resisting others

a sign of desperation

a sign of inner torment

a first or a last resort

a way of life

 

The following do not justify violence

Your partner cheated on you

Your partner hurt your feelings

Your partner doesn't appreciate you

Your partner doesn't understand you

Your partner is lazy

Your partner yells or nags at you

Your partner criticizes you

Your partner wants to leave you

Your partner doesn't love you

Your partner is selfish

Your partner is using you

Your partner is using drugs

Your partner has been unfaithful

Your partner has a closer relationship to others than you

 

 

 

Mat 8:28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

Violence is a manifestation of demon possession.

Judg 9:23 God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem, who acted treacherously against Abimelech.

1 Sam 16:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.

1 Sam 16:15 Saul's attendants said to him, "See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you.

1 Sam 16:16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the harp. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes upon you, and you will feel better."

1 Sam 16:23 Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

1 Sam 18:10 The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the harp, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand

1 Sam 19:9 But an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the harp,

Mark 1:23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out,

Mark 1:26 The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

Acts 19:15 One day the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"

Acts 19:16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.
