How do we know that the last week of Daniel refers to the end times?
The prophesy of Daniel itself refers to the End Times and Matthew 24 refers to this prophesy when talking about the End Times.
How many years were the Jews held in captivity by the Babylonians? (605BC - 538BC approximately)
Seventy years. This is pretty close to what is recorded in historical records other than the Bible.
Is this the same number that was prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah?
Yes.

What does the bible say will happen after the sixty two sevens?
The Anointed one will be cut off, Jerusalem and the Sanctuary will be destroyed, the end will come like a flood and war will continue until the end.
When does the last 'seven' take place?
Just before the end.
What happens in the middle of the last 'seven'?
The Antichrist will put an end to sacrifice and offering. The Great tribulation starts.
What happens at the end of the last 'seven'?
Christ Returns to redeem his people, separate the sheep and the goats and defeat the antichrist.
God pours out his wrath upon the earth after harvesting the believers. Then the wedding takes place and the antichrist is thrown into the lake of fire - the battle of Armageddon. (see Revelation Chapters 14 to 19)
How many days are there in three and a half years?
1260.
Are the any references to this number of days in the Bible?
Yes. This is how long the Great Tribulation lasts.
What does time, times and half a time refer to?
Daniel 7:25 says that the saints will be handed over to the one who speaks against the most high for time, times and half a time.
How long will the great tribulation last?
Half a week of Daniel which is three and a half years (time, times and half a time) or 42 months or 1260 days.
What will it be like in those days?
Terrible. The worst suffering ever known to man.
