Note: Born again is a term that is used in John's gospel. It is equivalent to Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Baptism in water mentioned in the other gospels. In fact, the term born again shows that baptism in water is related to baptism in the Spirit (see John 3:5)

Prior to Pentecost, there was a gap between believing and receiving because the Holy Spirit had not been released yet
NOW REGENERATION (OR BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT) IS CLOSELY LINKED TO SALVATION
Acts 5:32 2Th.2:13 Tit.3:5 1Pe.3:21
Acts 10:34-45 Acts 19:2-5
We have to believe in the risen savior for the forgiveness of sins before we can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit
