The Inner Witness

`

SOME PEOPLE REFER TO IT AS THE 'STILL SMALL VOICE'

OTHERS REFER TO IT AS OUR 'CONSCIENCE'

OTHERS SAY "FOLLOW YOUR HEART"

SOME CALL IT A 'GUT FEELING'

OTHERS SAY 'USE YOUR COMMON SENSE'

OTHERS SAY IT'S YOUR 'INTUITION'

THE BIBLE CALLS IT 'YOUR SPIRIT' WHICH IS IN 'YOUR HEART'

IF GOD IS LIVING IN YOUR HEART THROUGH HIS HOLY SPIRIT

(IF YOU ARE 'REGENERATED' OR 'BORN AGAIN')

HE CAN WITNESS WITH YOUR SPIRIT

AND SPEAK TO YOU THROUGH YOUR CONSCIENCE

WE NEED TO LEARN TO TUNE INTO OUR CONSCIENCE AND KNOW IT'S LIMITATIONS

The Holy Spirit

Ps.143:10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Dan 5:11 There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. King Nebuchadnezzar your father--your father the king, I say--appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners.

Dan 5:14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.

Luke 2:26  It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

John 3:7-8 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

John 6:63 The spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

John 14:16-17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.

Rom 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Ro.8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

Ro.8:14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Ro.8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

Ro.9:1 I speak the truth in Christ--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit-

1Co.2:10-17 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

Ga.5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Ga.5:17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

Ga.5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

Ga.5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Ga.6:8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Ep.2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Eph 3:5 which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets.

Heb.10:15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

1Jn.4:13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

1Jn.5:6 This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

1Jn.5:8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement

Ro.9:1 I speak the truth in Christ--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit-

1Co.4:4 My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

Heb 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Heb 10:2 If these sacrifices could have made the worshipers perfect, the sacrifices would have stopped long ago. Those who worship would have been cleansed once and for all. Their consciences would have been free from sin.

For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
