The Amenemhet III Pyramid at Hawara

The Amenemhet III pyramid at Hawara in Egypt. This was the last of the Great Pyramids to be built. Like the other pyramids of the 12th dynasty, this pyramid had a core that was made of mudbricks and a limestone veneer. The limestone veneer has fallen away over the centuries due to erosion, earthquakes and pilfering. What remains is the inner core of mudbricks which have been eroded over the centuries. The mudbrick contain straw. It is likely that the mudbricks of this pyramid were made by the Israelites when they were slaves in Moses's time. After the Exodus, there were not enough slaves left in Egypt to make mudbricks and so the pyramid age ended.
